Help Us Bring
the WOCF Film Programs Back in 2026

Your Support Helps Women of Color Filmmakers Thrive
And Helps Transform the Film Industry
For years, the WOCF Film Programs have been a lifeline for emerging and established filmmakers who have long been overlooked, underestimated, or pushed to the margins of the entertainment industry. Through our Film Lab and 201 Directors Program, we’ve helped countless women of color hone their craft, find their cinematic voice, and build the momentum needed to launch meaningful, sustainable careers.
These programs have produced filmmakers who have gone on to win festival awards, secure paid directing and producing opportunities, and create powerful films that center their voices, their communities, and their truths. This isn’t just a training program, it’s a movement building phenomenal, brilliant women filmmakers.
What Your Support Makes Possible

The WOCF Film Lab
Our 6-month intensive lab teaches filmmakers the essential building blocks of cinematic storytelling.
Participants develop skills in:
-
Concept development
-
Screenwriting
-
Directing
-
Pre-production
-
Production
-
Post-production
-
Each filmmaker works with an industry mentor who guides them through both pre-production and post-production. Every participant completes a full short film, which screens at our WOCF Summer Film Challenge. Many have gone on to win awards at film festivals nationwide.
Each year, 12 female-identifying filmmakers from diverse cultural backgrounds and age ranges are selected. Each one enters the program with a story only they can tell, and leaves with the training, confidence, and film needed to move their careers forward.

The 201 Directors Program
Designed for filmmakers with previous experience, this 6-month program helps rising directors refine their creative style, deepen their visual vocabulary, and elevate their cinematic technique. Through mentorship, workshops, and hands-on directing labs, participants receive advanced-level support to break through to the next chapter in their filmmaking journey.
Both programs are rooted in the belief that representation behind the camera shapes representation on screen. When women of color are given the tools, training, and mentorship they deserve, the entire film industry changes for the better.

Why We Need You Now
Due to lack of funding, we were forced to pause both programs in 2024 and 2025, a heartbreaking setback in a moment when representation and opportunity are more critical than ever. But in 2026, we want to bring these programs back stronger than before. To do that, we must raise $10,000 during this first phase of fundraising.
Your contribution today helps us:
✔ Bring back our Film Lab and 201 Directors Program
✔ Provide mentorship from working industry professionals
✔ Cover program materials, training sessions, and filmmaker support
✔ Give women of color the space, tools, and opportunity to create
✔ Ensure each participant leaves with a completed short film they can use to enter film festivals or secure work
