Are my Auction Donations or  contributions tax-deductible?

If you are an event sponsor, patron, or donating:

Women of Color Filmmakers is a nonprofit, 501c3 status is pending.

All contributions are managed by Bluechild Entertainment, LLC

For federal income tax purposes, please check with your Accountant or Tax Advisor. You may be able to deduct the portion of your purchase price that exceeds the item's fair market value (FMV), if you paid the excess with the intent to make a charitable contribution.

​

Please note that transaction fees and taxes associated with your contribution are not tax-deductible. For any additional questions, please consult your tax advisor.

Acknowledgment letter for my tax records?

Acknowledgment letters and tax receipts will be sent electronically following the auction. Please allow for up to 3 weeks for processing. If you have any questions, please contact:  Womenofcolorfilmmakers@gmail.com.

Online Auction Guidelines

I need to know when the auction countdown will start.

The Auction will begin at 4 pm PST, on Friday 11/19/2021 and will end on 12/10/21 at Midnight PST.

​

• A warning of the approaching closure, of the Auction will be provided 24-hours prior to closing. Bidding on an item will stop when the Auction is closed.

​

• All sales are final. There will be no exchanges or refunds unless otherwise noted. All items are as-is. WOCF makes no warranties or representations of any kind or nature, either expressed or implied, with respect to the property.

​

• WOCF has attempted to describe and catalog items correctly, but does not warrant or represent and shall in no way be responsible for the correctness of descriptions, genuineness, authorship, provenance, or condition of the items. No statement made in the item description, or made orally at the auction or elsewhere, shall be deemed such a warranty, representation, or assumption of liability.

• Suggested values have been supplied by the donors and are not guaranteed by WOCF.

• It is the successful bidder's responsibility to make the necessary arrangements for trips or other items, unless otherwise specified in the item description or relevant certificate. Certificates issued are one-of-a-kind and, in most instances, cannot be replaced if lost or stolen. Expiration dates are firm and, in most cases, cannot be extended.

​

• After the close of auction, the winner's credit card will be charged and a receipt will be emailed to the email address listed with the bid.

​

• Auction winners are responsible for picking up their item(s) or the shipping cost. Items will be held for a period of 2 weeks, after which they will be re-sold to the next highest bidder. Arrangements can be made to have the item(s) shipped to you; you will incur additional shipping and insurance fees for this service. 

​

The auction item value listed is an estimate of fair market value. Items have not been appraised unless so noted. The amount you pay above this fair market value estimate is normally tax deductible as a charitable contribution. Please consult your tax adviser to clarify the amount of deduction.

Participation in the Women of Color Filmmakers Anniversary Online Auction constitutes a waiver of any and all claims, losses, injuries, damages, suits, judgments, causes of action, taxes, expenses, including attorneys fees, and liabilities of any kind or nature whatsoever against Women of Color Filmmakers and their respective officers, volunteers, sponsors,  and representatives resulting from or connected with the use or receipt of any item or service auctioned at the Online Auction.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

1. Who can participate in the Online Auction?

Anyone 18 years and older may participate. 

• We encourage you to share the link with your family and friends.

2. How do I participate in the Online Auction?

• By placing your Silent Bid  on an item of your choice.

• Fill out the Bid Form

3. What technology will I need to participate?

To view and bid on auction items, you will need access to a computer or mobile device with internet connection. You will be required to have an email account with one of the email providers

• You will receive text or email notifications regarding the highest bids daily.

• We recommend that you check the website or your text messages periodically to see the status of the item's highest bid.

4. Can I pay by cash/check by mail or in person?

We cannot accept payments by cash or check at this time to ensure that all transactions can be fulfilled in a timely manner. Upon registering, you will be asked to provide credit card information. Bidders will need to authorize their winning bid charges to that credit card immediately after the auction closes.

5. Will I be charged tax?

Individuals must pay sales tax on tangible items. Sales tax for California, where our organization is  located, is 10%. This will be charged upon checkout for any tangible goods.  If the winning bid exceeds the fair market value of the item, you will only be charged tax on the fair market value.  The excess above fair market value is considered a donation to WOCF.  If the item is sold below fair market value, you will only be charged tax on the amount you paid for the item.

6. How do I pick up my items?

To receive your items, you must pay online by credit card in order to coordinate delivery of your item. Within the week following the closing of the auction, we will contact you regarding your preference for delivery.

​

• For delivery, we will add any shipping and handling costs to your balance for you to authorize payment. Once we have received payment confirmation for the shipping costs, we will package the item and choose the mail carrier at our discretion. If you would like to add insurance for the shipment, please let us know.

7. I've mistakenly placed a bid. What do I do?

Please ask for assistance from our team by emailing us at Womenofcolorfilmmakers@gmail.com, immediately.
