About the Event
It can be overwhelming to choose the right camera to make your film look cinematic as an indie filmmaker. Maybe you have shot a few shorts with your iPhone or DSLR and you want to up-level with your next film but you are not sure where to start. Do rent a super expensive Arri Alexa or can you get a comparable look with a less expensive camera and the right lens. Should you try to rent an anamorphic lens or are they out of your league. Maybe all of this sounds foreign to you and you just want to have a better understanding of how to shoot a film and make it look good, period!!! If you are a director it is important for you to understand camera and lens so you can relay to your cinematographer your cinematic vision. In this in-person/virtual class, cinematographer and director, Irwin “Moon” Miller is going to break down for us camera and lenses by demonstrating techniques with some of the cameras and lenses he likes to shoot with. This is a great class for new cinematographers and directors. Irwin is a passionate and playful creative genius whose academic background and tech-savvy mind continue to make an impact among the prominent league of directors for film and television. As one of Hollywood’s “Next Generation Filmmakers”, Miller’s directing career started in college with multiple short films and Live TV. Directing Live Bowl Games for Direct TV was only the beginning. From live broadcasts for the Emmys to television promo and concert work for clients like Paramount, HBO, NBC, not to mention, the multiple short films with nominations in the festival circuit, Miller keeps his Moonlight Film Production Company producing content for high-end clients delivering Industry-leading content that rivals only the best. His biggest director credits are mainly live television. Oprah's “Where Do We Go From Here” with over a billion views, Emmys (Hall of Fame 2011/13/14, Emmys Backstage Live/Red Carpet 2013/15, etc), Paramount Concert Series, College Bowl Games for Direct TV. He directed 30 plus shows at Fox Studios for Caffeine, including shows for Fox Sports, Drake, Offset, and The Game.
