Kicking Through The Barrier Wall In Hollywood with Taja V. Simpson

As women of color, we often have to deal with the  barriers Hollywood tries to put in front of us. We are categorized to  fit in tiny little boxes. To hold minimal space in a field that regards  us mainly as our racial stereotypes and not as intricate storytellers.  It can be hard to push past the noise. You can be made to feel that if  you don't fit the proper box assigned to you, then you can never be a  director, producer, studio exec, or well-paid working actress.  Especially if you seek a career in entertainment later in life after  raising a family or pursuing other career goals.

Actress, director, keynote speaker, author, and  entrepreneur Taja V. Simpson refuses to let naysayers keep her down.  This 4x award-winning actress, with over 20 years of experience in  acting and more than 60 credits in TV and film, is going to share how  she has been able to navigate Hollywood when the powers that be couldn't  see her as a leading lady because of the color of her skin. Taja is perhaps best known for playing Priscilla Owen in  Tyler Perry's "THE OVAL". Sitting in the director’s chair, Taja started Simpson  & McGowan Studios and has over 40 productions from theater and music  videos to television and film under her belt. She has coached and  mentored hundreds of actors helping them navigate the various aspects of  Hollywood and evolve into becoming working actors.
